The ancient city walls of Lucca are one of its most iconic landmarks. Built during the 16th century, these walls were designed to protect the city from enemies during times of war and can still be seen today. The walls measure about 4 kilometers in circumference and are now a public park and recreational area where people can take leisurely strolls or ride their bicycles around them. It’s no wonder these walls have become such a popular attraction!

Take some time to explore the historic center of town, where you can find many churches, palaces, towers, and museums that will help bring the city’s vibrant past to life. No trip to Italy is complete without indulging in some delicious Italian food! Lucca has plenty of restaurants offering traditional Tuscan recipes that will make your taste buds sing! From fresh seafood dishes like Fritto Misto di Pesce (mixed fried fish) to classic pasta dishes like Pici con Aglione (a garlic tomato sauce with thick spaghetti), there’s something for everyone here. Plus, don’t forget about the local wines. I recommend stopping at Rusticanella before anywhere else. My favorite restaurant in all of Italy. Make sure to try their Zuppa di Farro.
