The Do’s and Do Nots

In this week’s episode we reviewed some lists of do’s and don’ts in Italy from popular news outlets.

Places to Visit:

1. Herculaneum and Pompeii
2. Lake Maggiore, Lake Garda, Lake Como
3. Assisi
4. Amalfi vs. The Cinque Terre
5. Hop Between the Stunning Aeolian Islands
6. Rome
7. Sardinia
8. Venice
9. Milan
10. Mount Etna
11. Emilia-Romagna
12. Tuscany

Overall we agreed with some of the things on this list, but not necessarily the order in which they prioritized these places.

Tourists Traps (according to the article):

1. Avoid restaurants on big, popular squares or near major tourist attractions.
2. Avoid the torture museums that are scattered around the various medieval towns.
3. Avoid spending too much time in Venice.
   1. Don’t go shopping there.
   2. Don’t eat at expensive restaurants there.
   3. Don’t order fish or seafood a la carte.
4. Don’t go to Pisa.

This list we heavily disagreed on. Some of the best restaurants you can find happen to be in popular tourist areas.
